Studio CCS Architecture completed the design and development of Madrona Private House, a summer retreat in Seattle for a couple who wanted to get away from foggy San Francisco. Situated on a steep slope and a narrow lot, this 4000 square foot residence is spread over three floors, with the master, guest and kids bedroom on the ground floor, and living spaces on the upper floor to take advantage of the spectacular views of Lake Washington and the city skyline beyond. Additionally, the basement level contains storage, mechanical facilities and a two car garage.
One of the defining characteristics for the project is its overwhelming feeling of space. The social core of the house is an open plan living, kitchen and dining interior, with an imposing partition wall cleverly dividing functional areas. A generously-sized terrace links it to the magnificent views- and what a perfect spot for contemplation this is! How would you personally comment on the overall design of this residence?
